ACADEMIC LEAGUE is a district sponsored club to encourage, acknowledge
and reward academic excellence through competition. All students are welcome
to try out for the three teams: novice, junior varsity, and varsity. The
league meets at lunch and competes on Thursday nights during February,
March and April. The competitions are college bowl style matches against
other high schools. (Paula Riley)

ANIME CLUB watches Japanese animation, which teaches about Japanese culture,
art, religion and humor.
ARROW (Journalism) is an elective class for students interested in writing,
careers in journalism and production of the school newspaper. Students
work on writing and editing skills and have the opportunity to submit
their work and win awards in competition.
Astronomy Club - Kevin Regardie - Our goal is to get as many people interested in the Space Sciences to help promote a greater future for our country as well as the world as a whole by focusing distinctly on the areas of Astronomy, Physics, and Aerospace/Astronautical Engineering.

CSF (California Scholastic Federation) is a statewide organization with
a mission to promote scholastic achievement and community service. The
club meets at lunch. Lifetime members are recognized at graduation by
the gold cords they wear. (Loc Huynh)
DRILL TEAM holds open tryouts each spring and all students are encouraged
to join. Practices are held before school and during class. The team also
meets during the summer months to prepare for the upcoming school year.
Members perform at pep rallies and games, and they participate in national
competitions off campus each year winning a variety of awards. (Raul Gomez)
Drama/Thespian - Allen
THESPIAN CLUB is involved in a variety of “dramatic” activities
at Clairemont. They have sponsored school plays, assemblies, musicals
and a variety of other productions. Members have also visited and performed
at local elementary schools to entertain and teach. DRAMA

F.E.A. - Landau/Lunetta
FEA (Future Educators of America) encourages and provides support to students
planning to become future educators. Club members participate in retreats
and conferences and promote leadership. Large scholarships have been awarded
each year to qualified members
French - Lunetta-Sparr
FRENCH CLUB is open to all students interested in French culture. Club
members have attended French plays, French restaurants and have hosted
French meals they have prepared.

GLOBETROTTERS plan trips abroad. Meetings are at lunch where plans are
made for trips, videos are viewed about different cultures and travel
tips are presented.
Key
Club - Beaubien
KEY (Kiwanis Educating Youth) CLUB is affiliated with Kiwanis International.
This service club meets at lunch with their advisor and plans a variety
of community service projects. Key Club has participated in beach cleanups,
sweater and blanket drives, canned food drives and projects which feed
the homeless. This is a great club for those interested in helping and
working in the community, and making friends at the same time.
MUSIC CLUBS are available in a variety of areas for students who are not
able to fit band or choir into their busy schedules. Students can become
involved in jazz band, jazz choir, afterschool men’s choir and many

SAMAHAN ASIAN CLUB celebrates the cultures, foods, and languages of Asian
Pacific cultures. Members have had ethnic potlucks, celebrated Asian New
Year, promoted films and participated in ethnic food making. (Loc Huynh)
Surf
- Knight
SURF CLUB meets the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month to watch videos
and compete in surf competitions.
YEARBOOK (Jimenez) is an elective class for students interested in producing
the yearbook. Students learn all facets of production: writing, photography,
editing, Adobe Pagemaker, Photoshop and marketing. All students are welcome
to apply for this class in the spring for the following school year. |
