You can search for a scholarship by your academic major or you can select a category that searches for "all students, any major." Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Renewed. Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to announce that the scholarship program will be continued for 2008. In 2007 we had one winner from Arkansas and one from North Carolina. Hispanic Scholarship Program: Scholarships are available to graduating seniors who are planning on attending a community college or four-year university. Go to WWW.HSF.NET to apply. You can apply on line between Sept 1 – Feb 18th 2009. The Gates Millennium Scholarships are now available in the counseling center. Seniors must meet the following criteria:
The William S. Davila Scholarship Fund awards recipients between $1,000 – 2,500. dollars. If you are a son or daughter whose parents work in the food industry (retail supermarkets, manufacturers, brokers or distributors of food products sold n retail food stores) and planning on enrolling as a full time student at a four year university, you will be eligible to apply. The Jackie Robinson Family YMCA is offering a scholarship for high school seniors who live in the community serviced by the Jackie Robinson’s YMCA. Applications are available in the counseling center and deadline is January 30, 2009. You must complete an application, write an essay, attach official transcript, submit the first official progress report, complete financial information, provide two letter of recommendation; list your community service and extra curricular activities. The California State PTA is offering seniors a chance to apply for a $500.00 scholarship for your volunteer service in the school and/or community. Applications can be obtained at www.capta.org or in the counseling center. Students must be members of their PTSA and provide a current copy of their membership card. Deadline is Feb 1, 2009. Burger King Scholars Program grants more than $11.7 million in scholarships to seniors. Awards of $1,000 to each recipient can use the money for educational expenses, such as tuition fees and books, during the first year of college. For a student to qualify, he/she must be a high school senior and a U.S. resident that meets their criteria. To obtain information about their eligibility criteria, please visit their web site at www.kb.com/scholars. Application deadline is Feb 2, 2009.
The California Association of Collectors Educational Scholarship is awarding $2,500. to the first place winner, $2,000 to the second place winner and $1,500 to the third place winner. The scholarship is based upon a simple one page application and three to four pages essay on “Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit during Your College Years”. All entries must be postmarked by Feb 2, 2009. See their web site at: www.cacesf.org You can use the award money towards tuition, fees and books. For further questions, call 916-929.2125. Entries can be e-mailed to cas@calcollectors.net Asian Pacific Islanders for Professional and Community Advancement of At&T is offering a scholarship. Qualifications are: 1) senior in good academic standing – GPA 3.44 weighted GPA or above, 2) plan on attending an accredited college ( 2-4 year) or vocational school. At least one scholarship will be awarded to the top-scoring child or legal dependent of a current APCA member in good standing. You can download the application from http://www.apca-att.org. The KFC Colonel’s Scholars Program could mean up to $5,000 per year for tuition, books, room and board for a senior who qualifies, applies and is selected. You must have a min. GPA of a 2.75, pursue a bachelor’s degree and be a permanent resident. Students can complete their application on line at www.kfcscholars.org Applications are available on line between Dec 1, 2008 – Feb 10, 2009. San Diego Ford Dealers are sponsoring the Salute to Education Scholarships for seniors. Award money is $1,000. Selection criteria are based on school and/or community activities, personal character, goals and faculty recommendations. Students can apply in one of the following categories: 1) Arts, 2) Athletics, 3) Automotive, 4) Building Design/Construction, 5) Business Management/Administration, 6) Computer Science/Technology, 7) Education, 8) General, 9) Language Arts, 10) Mathematics, 11) Medical, 12) Performing Arts, 13) Science, 14) Social Science, 15) Vocational/Technical. Applications are available in the counseling center from Shauna Fitzpatrick. Deadline is Friday, Feb 13, 2009. All teachers need to recommend students for this scholarship. Sometimes they need a little encouraging! US Bank Internet Scholarship Program is being offered to high school seniors in the amount of $1,000 for each award. No essays, no minimum GPA. Program runs through Feb 2009. Body by Milk $7,500 scholarship for seniors: If you are an outstanding athletic who is looking for some extra cash for college, apply for the 12th annual “Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year” award. The SAMMMY scholarship is looking for athletic directors, coaches, principals, teachers, guidance counselors, parents and relatives to nominate a student athlete for this award. Student should demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, community service, leadership and include milk as part of their healthy lifestyle. The Janice M Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to honor those who were killed during the 911 terrorist attacks. Seniors can apply for these scholarships if they meet the criteria. Six scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $2,500. Applications are available in the counseling office ( Shauna Fitzpatrick) . 45% of the recipients will be chosen on the basis of NEED. If so, you could be eligible for a $2,500. Scholarship. Scholarships are based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and an essay. If so, you can apply for the Brian Graves Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be paid directly to the “four year” college of your choice.!!Applications are available in the counseling center. Deadline is April 1, 2009. The Future Educators Scholarship Program is providing scholarships for students interested in becoming teachers. You must: 1) have satisfactory citizenship and grades, 2) demonstrate financial need, 3) demonstrate community involvement, 4) sign a letter of intent to pursue a course of study leading to a teaching credential and 5) seek employment as a teacher with SDUSD. Additional scholarships will also be available for students in math and science from the estate of educators Virginia and Jack Mashin. Applications are available in the counseling office from Shauna Fitzpatrick. Deadline is April 2, 2009. The Musical Merit Foundation of Greater San Diego is awarding $41,000 to eight gifted musicians. Auditions for the scholarships will be held on May 28th 2009 at Smith Recital Hall at SDSU. The deadline for the receipt of Preliminary applications is April 28, 2009. Final auditions will be held on May 30th. Application fee is $15.00. The Grand Lodge of California Order Sons of Italy is providing scholarships for seniors in the following categories: 1) academic awards, 2) athletic scholarship, 3) Italian Language Study Grants in Italy for the summer of 09. The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. Deadline is June 27, 2009. Amount of Award - $500.00. The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution. Are you a senior who has been identified as Eligible in the Local Context (ELC)? You would be ranked in the top 4% of your class. If so, Santa Barbara will admit all California high school students for the fall of 2009. Let’s start working on those applications! Seniors who are college bound…… If you have applied to four year universities: Please make sure that you have ordered an “official transcript” for each school that you applied to by going to the front office ( the registrar, Jill Brown) and completing a pink form. She will prepare the transcripts for you and place them in sealed envelopes but it will be your responsibility to send them. Give her 48 hours to prepare the transcripts before coming back to pick them up. Also make sure you go on line to www.collegeboard.com and/or www.actstudent.org to send your official test results to the schools you applied to. Submitting the requested documentation needs to be completed before Jan 31st or they will not consider your application. If you are planning on attending a two or four year college….. Starting January 1st you will be able to begin completing the FAFSA forms for financial aid. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to begin your application. Remember, during this difficult economic time, money will be short. The money will be distributed on a first-come first serve basis so do not procrastinate in applying for financial aid! Go to: www.pin.ed.gov to register for your FAFSA pin. This will satisfy the signature page of your FAFSA application. Seniors who applied to San Diego State University: SDSU received more than 55,000 applications for fall 2009. Applicants who did not fully complete their application will be notified via e-mail and postal mail that they need to submit required information by January 15, 2009. Applicants should check their application status by logging on to the SDSU WebPortal using their RedID number, and clicking on the “Admission Status” option. RedID numbers are sent to applicants within two weeks of applying. Students needing financial aid should complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1. They can estimate their family income information and correct it after submitting their tax return to the Internal Revenue Service. SDSU’s federal school code is 001151. Seniors who have applied to UC Berkeley: The Achievement Award Program is a four-year scholarship program for incoming freshman and a two-year scholarship program for incoming junior transfer students. Scholars receive up to $6000 per year and a laptop computer, and take part in program events, seminars, and service to support their success at UC Berkeley. Student’s family income must be less than $86,000 per year, GPA at 3.0 or above. Apply on line between Dec 1 – Feb 2, 2009. We will be visiting 9 campuses, both UC and CSU and other fun activities. Cost is $350.00. Applications are available in the Counseling Office.
