    Free version of Britannica online contains advertising and is pretty busy, but worth using due to the high quality and selection of Web Links
 
Columbia Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition. 2001
    Contains "nearly 51,000 entries (marshalling six and one-half million words on a vast range of  topics), and with more than 80,000 hypertext cross-references."
Encarta Encyclopedia
    This is a scaled down version of the commercial version of Encarta Encyclopedia online, but worth using if you do not have access to the commercial version.
Artcyclopedia: The Guide to Fine Art on the Internet
    Offers "a comprehensive index of every artist represented at hundreds of museum sites, image archives. . . have now indexed 700 leading arts sites, and offer more than 24,000 links directly to an estimated 80,000 works by 7,000 different artists."  Search or browse by movement, medium, name of artist, nationality, etc.
Catholic Encyclopedia
    An encyclopedia related to matters involving the Catholic religion.  This is a broad area, with much historical and biographical information about many, many related things
Cambridge Dictionaries Online
    Four different Cambridge dictionaries may be searched from this site: International  Dictionary of English, Dictionary of American English, International Dictionary of Idioms, International Dictionary of phrasal Verbs.
American Heritage Book of English Usage
    A source of information on "grammar, sytle, diction, word formation, gender, social groups and scientific forms."
Oxford English Dictionary
    Check on the historical development and uses of a defined word in the English language
ROGET'S Thesaurus Search
    An online, searchable version of Roget's Thesaurus, a recently updated version, which will find synonyms very quickly, and allow you to link to different major sections with ease.
Merriam-Webster OnLine
    An excellent hypertext, online dictionary, offered by the Meriam-Webster Company, a well known publisher of reference books.

Bureau of Labor Statistics Career Information
    Explore many possible jobs and careers by choosing from six major groups of interests: Music/Arts, Math, Science, P.E./Outdoors, Social Studies, and Reading.  Written in clear and easy to understand language.
California Career Planning Network
    A wealth of career information related to California.  This is a huge sitewith a wide variety of resources.  Included are California Career Planning Guide and Occupational Reports for 37 Areas of California.  You may access San Diego County Occupational Outlook Report wich contains "summarized local information on various occupations.  This information includes wages, employer benefits, skills, education, training and experience requirements, worker supply and demand assessment, advancement potential, occupational projections, employment trends and recruitment."

Mega-Mathematics!
    A project of Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico, where the tomic bomb was developed.  The MegaMath project is intended to bring unusual and important mathematical ideas to elementary school classrooms so that  young people and their teachers can think about them together.
History of Mathematics

Mathematicians of the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries
