What is M.E.Ch.A?

Movimiento: A movement that strives for higher education, determination, achievement and cultural awareness.

Estudiantil: Because our principle struggles are for students and higher education.

Chicano: It is grounded in a philosophy, not a nationality. It is a reflection of unity amoung Raza (people) and has come to represent all Latino people. It is a demand for self-knowledge and a declaration of the pride for history and culture.

Aztlan: Geographically southwestern United States, is the legendary homemade rooted in Aztec mythology that affirms ancestral origins and civilizations. It exemplifies the deepest convictions that Latinos are indigenous people that belong to this historic land and epitomizes the extraordinary culture.

Motto: La Union Hace La Fuerza - Together We Are Stronger

Purpose:

  • To encourage Latinos to enter and finish college
  • To promote and embrace cultures
  • Education, Self-Determination, Achievement
