Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Distinguished Lecture Series Dr. Sandra Kaplan Dr. Sandra Kaplan is a Clinical Associate Professor at the Division of Learning and Instruction, University of California, Los Angeles and formerly at the University of Southern California’s Rossier School of Education. Dr. Kaplan currently teaches the methods courses for the Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential at UCLA. She is a consultant for several state departments and school districts nationwide on the topics of education for gifted students, differentiated curriculum in depth and complexity, and thematic interdisciplinarity. Dr. Sandra Kaplan has authored numerous articles and ten books on the nature and scope of differentiated curriculum for gifted students. Her primary area of concern is modifying the core and differentiated curriculum to meet the needs of inner-city, urban, and gifted learners. She is a past president of the California Association for the Gifted (CAG) and the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC). She has been nationally recognized for her contributions to gifted education. Among her publications are: The Parallel Curriculum, A Design to Develop High Potential and Challenge High-Ability Learners; Icons for Depth and Complexity.
