Welcome to our K1 web site! You will find important dates and a general description of what is happening in the K1 classroom. I hope you find this page informative and helpful.

September 8 - First day of school. K1 will open at 8:50. Parents are welcome to join your student on a scavenger hunt around our classroom. At 9:05 parents will be asked to say goodbye and go to an informative meeting about our school. Your child will be ready to be picked up from K1 at 3:35.

September 22- Back to School Night at 5:15 for kindergarten parents. This is a parents only event where I will explain our curriculum and class schedule. There will be a PTA meeting at 6:00.

During the month of September, your child will learn our classroom rules and routines. I want your child to feel welcome, make new friends, and enjoy school!

We will also begin to study informational text and your child will start to understand the parts of a book. Students will also use pictures and letters to write about themselves.

Our first math unit covers sorting and classifying. The students use a variety of materials in the classroom and explain how to sort.

K1 students will also learn more about the alphabet, rhyming, handwriting, friendship, colors, and using the five senses as they become scientists.
