The Colonial Williamsburg Research Project
To take part in the Living Museum of Colonial Williamsburg, you will need to complete a research project. This will give you the background information to become an expert in a specially area. You will then share some of the information from your report with the visiting students, during the Living Museum project. Your research report must include the following:
Title Page (Include area of specially).
Table of Contents.
Specialty (two parts)
- Why was this building/trade important to Williamsburg?
- Describe the history, traditions, function, economy, and artifacts of your specialty.
Original 13 Colonies: Choose one of the 13 original colonies to research. You may choose from New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, or Delaware (originally New Sweden).
- When was your colony founded?
- Who founded the colony? What country sponsored the colonists?
- Why was the colony founded?
- Was it a successful colony? How do you know?
- What were some of the problems faced by the early settlers?
- Describe some important events in your colony.
- Describe some features of daily life in your colony.
Appendix (include pictures of your area of specially in Williamsburg and maps of your colony ad its geographic location in the United States).
Bibliography: Cite 2 - 3 sources, one of which must be a book source.
