No Charge for Lessons: There are no fees or charges made for these lessons. The instrument selected for study may be obtained through a rental plan offered by music stores in the city that specialize in band and orchestra instruments, or you may have a musical instrument belonging to your family which your child can use. All instruments used in these classes must be in good playing conditions. Schedule: Tuesdays and FridaysContinuing Band 1:15-2:00 Beginning Band 2:05-2:50 Orchestra 2:55-3:30 *6th grade students will eat lunch at the music room and return to class at 2:55 (if approved by teacher) - Della Rubio, Front Office Requirements: Beginning instruments classes: (1) The student should be interested in learning to play and committed to regular practice. (2) The parent must see that the student has an instrument and the required book. The following instruments will be taught in beginning classes now;
Beginning students should not obtain instruments before consulting with the music teacher. The instrumental music teacher will send home a form describing the instrument to be obtained. Piano, guitar and accordion are not taught in these classes. Snare drum is taught only when the instructor's time permits. An evaluation of beginning instrumental music student's progress is made by the instructor two times during the school year. The reports will be made in January and June. Orchestra or Ensemble: If your child already plays one of the standard band or orchestra instruments listed above and can read an easy grade of music, you should urge him/her to join one of the schools in a band or orchestra and playing for programs and concerts is an excellent incentive for advancement in an instrumentalist. A list of music stores is available from the instrumental music teacher at your child's school. You might want to contact one close to the area where you live.
