Rochelle Schwartz This letter is in regards to a fabulous teacher, Rochelle Schwartz. I have known Rochelle for seven years, and have learned many lessons from her. Her unique creative style, patience, understanding, and tolerance allow her to stand out in the crowd. As a fellow colleague, I have seen her influence the lives of many students. An area that Rochelle strives to achieve in her classroom is equality for all, regardless of race. For years, she has taught in bilingual, and in sheltered classrooms. She emphasizes the importance of culture, and how each child is unique in their own special way. In the past, Rochelle has led school groups such as "Adelante," an organization for Hispanic girls in the elementary grades. While she was at Gage Elementary, Rochelle was a key person in obtaining a grant for this organization. Through her efforts, the children were able to participate in field trips, listen to guest speakers, and were able to express their culture in a safe environment. In addition, she has been vital in the area of translation for staff members and Spanish speaking families. Working with Rochelle also allows me to experience her love for the arts. Rochelle delights in being the liaison for the arts in the upper grades, and provides rich experiences for her students. In particular, I have worked with Rochelle in five musical productions geared for elementary students. Her hard work, determination, and dedication helped make each musical a success. Whenever possible, Rochelle brings in organizations to the school to help enhance musical learning. In years past, she has been instrumental in bringing in the San Diego Opera, and the San Diego Symphony educational programs. As a team player, Rochelle is valuable when it comes to her expertise. Her experiences with literacy, portfolios, the arts, and race human relations make her a leader amongst our staff through in services. She is loved and respected by many. Words cannot fully describe the influence Rochelle Schwartz has on those she comes in contact with. However, one can only understand her love for teaching through her students' eagerness to learn. Sincerely, Garner F. Saguil, Teacher at Dingeman Elementary |
