A Brief History of the DWA
- Nov. 27, 2001: project begins as Chief of Business Services presents to the Board of Education strategies for improving efficiency and effectiveness in the organization by implementing new District Wide Applications (DWA). The board approved the release of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to acquire such a system.
- Feb. 14, 2002: Released RFP (Request for Proposal) to replace our Student Information Systems, Human Resources, and Financial systems.
- Mar. 29, 2002: Proposals submitted to district from system vendors.
- April - June 2002: Proposals evaluated and systems demonstrated to determine the solutions that best fit the district's requirements. Finalists demonstrated their products further during last week of June.
- Aug. 2002: RFP released for implementation services.
- Sept. 6, 2002: System recommendations presented to Board of Education: PeopleSoft for Human Resources and Finance. C-Innovations Zangle for Student Information System and and 4GL for Special Education. (View the presentation given to the Board. Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.)
- Sept. 2002: PeopleSoft implementation vendors submit proposals and give presentations to district for implementation services. District evaluates vendor proposals and presentations and identifies recommended PeopleSoft implementation vendor: Empower Solutions.
- Oct. 2002: Contracts negotiated with PeopleSoft, C-Innovations, 4GL, and Empower Solutions.
- Nov. 12, 2002: DWA contracts approved unanimously by Board of Education. (View the presentation given to the Board. Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.)
- Dec. 2002: Implementation begins as vendor staff arrive and begin working with the district DWA team at the Instructional Media Center (IMC).
- Jan. 9, 2003: DWA Kick-Off Meeting and party held for the entire DWA team, including vendor staff, district tiger teams and subject matter experts. (View the presentation given at the kick-off. Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.)
- Feb. 13, 2003: IT Kick-Off Meeting held to announce the many infrastructure upgrade projects underway to support the DWA. (View the presentation given at the meeting. Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.)
