DWA-What it means for parents

For the first time, parents will have online access to their children's educational data through the web-based Zangle ParentConnection.

Zangle's ParentConnection

ParentConnection is part of the Zangle Connections Series (which also includes TeacherConnection and StudentConnection). The Zangle Connection Series facilitates communication between schools, classrooms, and homes of students and their parents. It allows secured access to student information from home, business offices, or from any remote location with Internet access. No longer must parents, teachers, and education support staff have direct communication only by hosting face-to-face meetings.

Using ParentConnection, parents will be able to view educational information about their children. Key features offered in ParentConnection are described below. (Note: San Diego City Schools may not implement all the features described below.)

To see sample ParentConnection screens, view slides 29-34 of this DWA Presentation given at various schools by Denis Dolbey, DWA-Student Project Manager. (Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.)

Requirements:

As a security measure, to protect the privacy of student information, parents will be required to register to use ParentConnection. Each parent or guardian will have access to information on only the student(s) for which the parent or guardian has legal rights. Each time the parent logs in to ParentConnection, the parent will be required to supply account information and go through an authorization and authentication process.

ParentConnection requires a computer with Internet access and a web browser such as Internet Explorer 5.0 or better.

Important: Parents do not need to have a computer or Internet access at home to use ParentConnection. Computers at public libraries have Internet connections and can be used for free.
