DWA-What it means for school staff

With Zangle Desktop, school staff will have access to all the data they are accustomed to in AERIES and SIS, but with the convenience of using only one system. In addition, Zangle provides many benefits that were unavailable in AERIES and SIS, as described below.

With PeopleSoft, timekeepers at school sites will be able to process timesheets electronically, as described below.

Zangle Desktop

The Zangle Desktop application runs on PCs and contains school-wide data. (Please note this is separate from the Zangle TeacherConnection application used by teachers. TeacherConnection is web-based, runs on Macs or PCs, and displays just the data pertinent to a teacher about that teacher's students.)

Here's how the DWA will affect the following school staff:

• For attendance staff
• For counselors
• For enrollment clerks and registrars
• For itinerant staff
• For master schedule builders
• For nurses
• For timekeepers

For attendance staff

• Attendance staff will no longer scan attendance bubble sheets. Instead, teachers will enter attendance online using Zangle TeacherConnection.
• Attendance staff will now have more time to verify absences, account for students' whereabouts, and ensure accurate attendance information. You will post attendance updates and corrections in Zangle Desktop and continue to be responsible for pupil accounting at the site.

For counselors

• Counselors and administrators will continue to have access to all student schedules, discipline histories, report cards and progress reports, test information, and confidential counselor notes.
• In addition, counselors will be able to see IEP or 504 information, english learner information and placements, transcripts (academic history), GPA rank lists, and graduation requirements.
• To assist counselors and registrars, Zangle will provide on-screen credit checks and calculate GPAs.
• Transcripts can be viewed or printed on-site as needed.
• Collecting student course requests for next year will be greatly simplified with the use of Zangle Career (Course) Plans.

For enrollment clerks and registrars

• The K-12 Enrollment Form will be revised to collect additional demographic and contact information that is stored in Zangle.
• The most significant change is that students in Zangle are assigned to a "household." A household identifies a student with a particular address and a parent or guardian. A student's household record will include all their school-age siblings, regardless of the siblings' grade level or school of attendance. Because of this feature, a parent will be able to submit an address change at one child's school (say, the elementary school), and the information will then automatically update for all students within that household, even if they attend different schools (say, the middle school or high school). As a result, you will always be looking at the most current, accurate information. Important: A household is more than just an address. It is a particular family unit at an address. Therefore, there may be more than one household at a particular address. For questions on households, see DWA-Student FAQ.
• To assist counselors and registrars Zangle will provide on-screen credit checks and calculate GPAs.
• Transcripts will be visible at a site and can be printed on-site as needed.

For itinerant staff

Since Zangle uses a single, central database, you can log into Zangle at any location to which you are authorized and work with the data for any or all of the locations you service. This will be very handy for nurses and other staff who work at multiple sites.

For master schedule builders

Master schedule builders will find new and greatly enhanced tools to use in building the master schedule. You will be using Zangle's Master Schedule Editor, Schedule Loader, automated and assisted course placement, and course linking. You can use rotating, mosaic, and block scheduling to meet the needs of your school. Through the use of these features master schedules will be created with greater ease and accuracy while addressing the needs of students, staffing, and curriculum.

For nurses and health staff

The district has contracted with C-Innovations to enhance the existing Zangle Health system to meet our needs. The DWA team will be working with the identified health subject matter experts to define the modifications to be made.

For timekeepers

Using PeopleSoft, timekeepers will be able to submit and track payroll electronically. You won't have to make multiple copies of timesheets, mail them to the Ed Center, and spend time tracking down missing timesheets. Timekeeping and payroll will be a process that's integrated electronically, which will greatly enhance communication. It will also allow you as a timekeeper to see where payroll information is at all times.
