An incentive plan, funded by community partners, is built into
San Diego Parent University to encourage parent
participation.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
Parents earn 1 "Parent Point" for each class they
attend.
Parents receive a $20 Target Stores Gift Certificate after
earning 10 "Parent Points."
At the end of the year, a home computer system valued at
$1500 is given away in a drawing to a parent who has earned at
least 10 "Parent Points." In the future we hope to have more
than one computer drawing per year, depending on funding.
Last year, 56 parents earned 67 gift certificates and the
opportunity to have their names placed in the drawing for the
home computer system. Books are also given as prizes to parents
to help families build home libraries.
