Laura Rodriguez Elementary will ease overcrowding at Logan Elementary
and Perkins Elementary. |

New school size: The new school
will accommodate 650 students in grades K-5 on 6.5 acres. |

Acquisition
and relocation: The new school required the acquisition of 14
parcels, and the relocation of 20 households consisting of
71 residents. Of the 20 households, 2 used their relocation funds to
become first-time homeowners.

Name of new
school: The school was named for the tireless Logan Heights
activist who founded Chicano Park and Logan Heights Family Health
Center.

features: 32 classrooms, 54,805 square feet of facilities, 6.5
acres, 61 parking spaces, 118 trees, assorted flowering shrubs and
groundcover, joint-use
field for soccer and baseball, multipurpose room,
library/media center, lunch shelter, elevator and accessibility
features, kitchen, faculty lounge, workroom, administrative
center, and energy-efficient design features.
