Lincoln High School (rebuilt)
School opens: September 2007. Learn about the Lincoln High School Reopening, including proposed academic themes, boundary changes and upcoming community meetings.
Principals: To be determined.
Status: Construction began in October 2004.
Location: 140 South 49th Street, San Diego, CA 92113. Lincoln Park. The existing southern campus boundary will be expanded across Franklin Avenue to Ocean View Boulevard, between 48th and Gloria (a.k.a. Alternative Site D).
Purpose: Lincoln High will be rebuilt due to deterioration, enrollment growth and irregular grade configurations.
New school size: The rebuilt school will accommodate 2,700 students in grades 9-12 on 24.4 acres.
Acquisition and relocation: The expansion of Lincoln High required the acquisition of 37 parcels, and the relocation of 77 households consisting of 284 residents. Of the 77 households, 4 used their relocation funds to become first-time homeowners.
Name of school: The school will retain the name of Lincoln High, in honor of the sixteenth president of the United States.
Campus features: The new Lincoln High, at 323,196 square feet, will feature four comprehensive high schools on 24.4 acres. Campus features include 77 general classrooms, an arts complex, library, 16 science classrooms and eight science prep rooms, seven technology classrooms, a Career Center, a 790-seat auditorium, 376 onsite parking spaces and more. Athletic facilities include locker rooms, weight room, adaptive PE room, two gymnasiums, baseball fields, track, football field, press box and concession stands.
