Wangenheim Middle School Continues to Score High on Academic Performance Index and Adequate Yearly Progress
On August 31, 2006 , the California Department of Education released the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) 2006 results and the 2006 Academic Performance Index (API) Growth results. AYP measures the absolute level of student performance (how many students are meeting or exceeding standards). API measures the progress of the district and the schools toward having all students improve.
Academic Performance Index
Our numeric index increase was 19 points . Our new numeric index is 816 . We have exceeded the statewide target of 800. Wangeheim has the 3 rd highest numeric index of all comprehensive middle schools in San Diego Unified School District . The two schools with a higher numeric index are Thurgood Marshall Middle School and Muirlands Middle School .

Wangenheim has met all of its proficiency targets schoolwide and for all subgroups.
Wangenheim Middle School Leads the District with an Outstanding Elective Program
Wangenheim Middle School offers the most complete elective program available. Course/club offerings include drama, wood shop, metal shop, music appreciation, computers, art, science, foods, and photography. We also offer beginning and advanced orchestra and chorus.
