Write your representatives to demand fair treatment for Wangenheim
Dear Families,
Much has been made of the unfair treatment that Wangenheim has endured under the No Child Left Behind law. We have been labeled a failing school because we followed the law and allowed our special education students to take the STAR tests using accommodations. The only way we could have avoided this problem would have been to break the law and refuse to allow our special education students the accommodations written into their Individualized Education Plans. By following one law, we are apparently breaking another. Please take a few moments to write to your representatives about this absurdity.
For your convenience, we have prepared a letter which you can use. (Letter)
Please write to your representatives (State Addresses) and the Federal Executive Branch (Federal Addresses).
No Child Left Behind has the noble purpose of trying to ensure that all children receive a solid education. Let's encourage our lawmakers to continue to revise it so that it treats schools and children fairly, and truly leaves no child behind.
Thanks for supporting Wangenheim.
