Wangenheim Wins with Inventions

Sixth grade students in Meg Reilly's Seminar class participated in the San Diego County Inventor's Showcase, held at the Scottish Rite Temple in Mission Valley, on May 15, 2008. Four of the sixth projects were award winners. Congratulations to the following students for their award-winning projects:

Sabrina H., an award for Best School Use for her “LookaBook,” a book holder designed for school desks; Kelsea S., an award for Best Visual Display for her “Surf Purse;” Jasmine W., an award for Most Useful and 3rd Place Overall, for her “Wrist Watch,” a wristband that holds a key and a light for jogging in the dark; and Nhi Q., 2nd Place Overall, for a working prototype of a funnel designed to pour liquids faster than presently-designed funnels, which she calls the “Faster Funnel.” Congratulations to all students who participated!

From the Nurse:

Dear parents of eighth grade students, it is time to get out those old vaccination records! When you enroll your student for high school, the registrar will ask to see the vaccination record. Most students need either booster shots or new vaccines between the beginning of sixth grade and high school.

Also check their Hepatitis A (2 vaccinations) Hepatitis B (3 vaccinations) and MMR (2 vaccinations both given after the first birthday).

Important Dates for Parents

• Schoolwide Talent Show   Thur, May 29, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.  
• Library Books   All library books must be returned by Monday, June 2.   
• 8th Grade Dance   Sat, June 14, at The Officer's Club at Miramar. Only eligible students may attend.
• June 16, 2008 - End of Semester 2 Report cards will be mailed by the district within 3 weeks.
